How is Data Protection Service used?

Customers can eliminate or reduce tape to periodic copies for archiving.

In the event of a disaster System Source will replicate the most recent data to a recovery appliance delivered to your location.  The replacement appliance is ready to use without reconfiguration of your network.

Details

Data de-duplication evaluates incoming data at a sub-block level ensuring duplicate data already stored is not re-written to disk.  The backup data compression ratio starts at roughly 2:1 with the first pass and improves to 20:1 or better over time depending on data type.
